Dr. Kelle Henrietta Ijeoma  B.Sc Industrial Chemistry (UNN); MSc. Pure and Industrial Chemistry (NAU); PhD. Environmental Chemistry (NAU), is an Environmental Chemistry by area of specialization, and have conducted many research activities in the area of Environmental Chemistry, with emphasis on natural sorbents for oil spill clean – up. From the researches conducted it indicates that some natural sorbents can  compete well with synthetic sorbents. The interest in natural sorbents is due to the huge waste generated after using synthetic sorbents to clean an oil spill, which adds to its cost, hence the need to produce cost effective and efficient sorbents that are biodegradable, to possibly replace petroleum – derived, non biodegradable synthetic sorbents.                                                                  Currently, research activities in the exploration of more natural sorbents are ongoing.
